[...] In my previous article, I briefly mentioned how our current formation leaves us very much exposed at the back. Blackburn’s second goal in the 6-2 mauling at the Emirates had both our full backs too far forward, leaving the central defenders fending off more attackers than they could be reasonably expected to handle.
I think it probably was a penalty but have yet to see a replay of the Gallas upending toward the end of the match. Fergie and Allardyce both use things like this to distract from the fact that they haven't got a result. Fergie messed up big-time on Saturday and should have lost but has switched the attention to the ref. Last season Fergie slated Benitez for a hand gesture when Liverpool played Blackburn to take the pressure off of Allardyce when it seemed that it was aimed at his own players. We didn't get a far, far more obvious penalty at OT earlier this season. So what? Shit happens. The really frightening thing is that Allardyce still thinks he should be England manager with tactics like his.

I'm correcting that as we speak, chris. I even say somewhere else he was subbed off. My brain for you.

It was a penalty for Blackburn and we have to admit the referee got that decision wrong. But to say it was the turning point of the game as Allardyce did is just pathetic. Blackburn were overpowered by a fitter, stronger, more skillful and more clinical side. The four goal margin did not flatter us.

I'm sure there will be a low point or two at the season, and we'll miss that very "how much better can it get" sentiment, but I agree, stormid. I think Nasri will fit in Diaby's position when he does make his return. Now Wenger's foresight really has to be heralded after most of us questioned his trying to convert the brilliant Samir into a more defensive player.

Nice review.

Eduardo,Nasri,Eboue did not feature at all and arguments can be made for all three getting into the other three top 4 teams.

Finally we have found the formation to use our attacking talent.

Verminator is just outstanding.

Clichy suspect, but getting better.

Ramsey's range of passing is sublime. Diaby even at the lowest ebb of confidence is decent enough. His form will return soon. And when it does he will be a key key player for us with his powerful running and finishing. Adds a bit of height to the team.

Just imagine the brilliance and creativity of Nasri added to the performance yesteday. How much better can it get?

Cheers Andy, I look forward to your article later today.

Saminator, I won't pretend that I'm an objective marker, but I try and call it as best I can. Plus I also watch the games (live) late at night, so with a slightly hazed brain, I won't get it right all the time. Regardless, ta very much.

Nice review Jammathon. We look a little suspect on the counter but I think the boys new in a game like this we could afford to throw everything at them and rely on scoring to win the game.
