Cesc and Arshavin: P**ed off and Furious

”A perusal over the headlines on Newsnow has left me mired in a mix of fury, frustration and sheer, abject boredom.

News just in is Dennis Lachter – one must emphasize, Andrey Arshavin’s former agent – has mouthed off to the radio that Barcelona ‘must bid’ for his former client, not six months after he joined Arsenal.

“Before anything else, Barcelona should make a formal offer, then we can sit down and speak.”

This, by the way, who said of Arshavin’s impending, ‘dead-cert’ transfer to Spurs at the beginning of 2008/09:

“Andrei likes the way Juande Ramos is going to play at Tottenham and this is the main point of our decision — not only the money but the desire of the manager to have the player.”

There is bitterness at the loss of his very street-wise client, the failed dealings with Arsenal and a seller’s market in the world of transfers that he’s now missed out on. It’s an agent’s world out there and Spanish clubs are the ones to link your name to.

That and, in a world where Alisher Usmanov is doing all he can to sweep the rug from out under Arsenal’s feet, I would not be surprised the man had something to do with more unsettling rumours.

None more so than the Sun’s attempts to sell of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. See a theme?

The rag quotes ‘an Arsenal insider’ as saying that every player has his price, Arsenal has debts, blah blah blah.

As Arsenal fans screaming for constant news on the hour, every hour, this is both the price we pay and a result of such demands. The media know there’s a market out there for these kind of breaking stories lies and they feed it to the hungry masses.

Whether it riles us or makes us all happy, either result is a success.

Success that, frankly, leaves me pissed off and furious. It is a very frustrating, boring time for football when Ronaldo prances around in front of 80,000 Real Madrid fans and some thugs in Rugby League are bashing each other up at bars and taking a dump in hotels.

It’s a genuine wasteland of news out there. It makes me feel a little down – so to pep things up, here’s one of the most uplifting football player compilations out there – take it away, Andrey.

In other news, reported target Brede Hangeland looks set to stay at Fulham, while Arseblog has excelled once again in the journalism stakes with his exclusive interview with Ivan Gazidis. Top interview, Arseblogger, with some wonderful insights.

It really must be noted further that Arseblogger really did light up not only the Arsenal-blogosphere way back when but football blogging in general. Every Arsenal blogger owes something to him in his pioneering ability to push the envelope and its something I can only ever dream to match. I in no way claim to, but it’s a marvel to read almost every article.

So cheers, Blogger. Another top write up.

Something to cheer me up from my Newsnow grumpiness, I guess.
