Ch-ch-ch-Changes! Third-Gen has an Arsenalisation of its own
…and we have liftoff!
Introducing the new spiffy look for Third-Gen. Ivan Gazidis can go on and on about Arsenalisation and think he’s just the bee’s knees about it, but I say no! You’re not the only one who can do a job. So here’s my contribution, by throwing in a few more Gooner elements to affairs.
EDIT: For those that cannot see anything ‘new’ about the site, you will need to empty your browser’s cache. What you should be seeing looks like this. If you need help on how to do this, a good how-to can be found here (for IE, Netscape and Safari), Firefox, or Chrome.
There might still be a few bugs in the system, but I’m pretty sure most of it has been ironed out.
I had been working on a design overhaul for the site for a while and intended to bring it in at season’s end.
But when comparing the ‘old’ Third-Gen to the newcomer, it just became apparent to me that the new version made the old look very drab.
So while I hope there will be more changes for the better at the end of 09/10 (greater functionality, new features, etc), I am really chuffed with this new look and think it will be here to stay for some time yet.
And to celebrate, a little song and dance from a personal favourite:
Leave your thoughts on the new design, and any improvements you might like to see, in the comments.

very cool
Cheers, Tai Wei.
Very nice design and a great logo. It was certainly worth the inspiration and hard work. can you keep it up for the rest of the season?
Balkaneer, this season has seen a much more regular return to blogging compared to when I had to stop for a number of reasons in February 2008.
There were a few glitches with my service provider that meant there was a week or two of absence in August, but they seem to have been sorted, now. So yes. You can expect a major blogging presence from Third-Gen now that the teething problems are finally out of the way, for a long time into the future.
excellent revamp, always liked visiting this blog. Now the question is, as alluded to in a previous post – can you maintain this form during the traditionally tough winter months?! He he, good stuff, look forward to reading your articles as we sweep Sunderland and Chelsea aside to end the month on a high!
Many thanks, bobby. I actually find it easier when the matches are coming thick and fast as I really enjoy writing match reports and stirring controversy by giving Diaby and Eboue 10/10s
. It’s the long, boring international breaks like what we’re in currently that make blogging a little more difficult. Never mind, I think we’re onto a good rhythm at the moment.
Nice one dude. All by yourself?
Yes, Andy. A little help from the brother whenever I had a CSS question (he’s an IT guy), but I mostly know my way around those things. So yes, this is 99% my hard graft.
I begin to like this site more and more!
Glad you like it, Nick.
uhh well, i’m quite a regular visitor here. but i cannot tell the difference? sorry :/. would be great if you can point out what were the changes.
rosicknote, are you using Firefox or Chrome? Either way, you need to empty your cache to see the changes. I’m posting a screenshot on the blog for others that might be a bit oblivious to the changes. Once your cache is emptied, your browser will reload the site with the new design.
Blog updated with info on how to empty your cache.

Awesome !!! Mind blowing !!!
got it!
looks great! but i was hoping for a more red and white themed site.. but oh well. i think u did a great job. keep it up mate!
rosicknote, I definitely needed a bit more red spashed about, but I think the white background for the comments will do, heh. I still wanted to keep the general look and feel that the blog has always had without just making an entirely different design.
Great new design. I love the top banner!
Keep up the good work!
