good post.this chelsea team is very good but I agree one of the things they seem to lack is pace. they’re old and slow.and pace is something we have a lot of.might be the difference

Let me see, Eddie Yak…if Chelsea lose Drogba, Essian and Terry, then it is obvious that the management and manager failed to recruit enough players to their squad to win — what silly circular, useless reasoning.

You are no doubt one of those who couldn’t believe Wenger saw anything in Song. And now you call him essential. If you want to criticize Arsene, fine, but try to make an argument that holds a few drops of water for more than a few milliseconds, please?

Well, well Mr. Wenger said that he didn’t need to recruit any players and his squad is good enough. So, now I like to ask who is as good as RVP in the present squad ? None ! even if it is two to three years from now. I said it before and will say it again, Arsenal cannot win the Premier League simply because she does not have good replacements and no first teamers can last the entire season without injuries. Mr. Wenger seem to think so and NOW is the proof he is wrong and it will prove beyond reasonable doubt when more first team players get injured. If Fabregas, Song and Vanmaelen got crocked then it is definitely the end – period. I sincerely hope Mr. Wenger prove me WRONG and I’ll be glad to kowtow to him.

Good points, jammathon. Chelsea do tend to play very narrow through the middle, but they get away with it because teams are so fearful of the front grouping. But with our ability to hold up the midfield and quickly turn to the counterattack, Ballack & Co are definitely exploitable.

I’m really hoping Gallas comes through fit for the match. The thought of him and Verm doing battle with Drogba and Anelka is what great football is all about. Power against power, class against class. It’s really a titanic clash between those four.

I’m excited to see what our front 5 (Cesc, Denilson, Eduardo, Shava and whomever else plays out wide…probably Rosicky or Nasri) can do against Chelsea’s defenses. I’d love to see us get the passing going right away and as Arsene has said, to play to OUR strengths instead of trying to counter Chelsea’s. If Cesc can be Cesc, Song can bring his power and poise, and the front 3 can create with purpose we definitely have a chance to win.

I’m getting the jitters already and the match is hours away. I’ve been watching American football all day, but it’s a poor substitute for The Arsenal. The match can’t get here quick enough.
