Walcott, blogging delays and Alisher Usmanov caught on tape
A much delayed ‘howdy’ to you all.
I’ve come a real cropper in the blogging department. Some dormant health issues have reared their ugly, morbid heads and it has put the website on a lower priority than other things in life at the moment, so the match report for Olympiakos will either wait or just be brushed over.
Thoughts on the game of course is as the status quo goes – we acquited ourselves well, gave it our best shot, but ultimately, Olympiakos preyed on some defensive inexperience, got their goal and their knock-out round qualification. Fair play to them, but also much kudos to the ever improving Aaron Ramsey, who bossed the home side about, as well as young Kyle Bartley, who looks to have something about him.
One boy who didn’t have his shooting boots on of course was Carlos Vela, who’s becoming less and less of an ‘if he were there in place of Ade we’d score 6 every game!’ player, to someone providing a lot of frustration for the majority of fans. Nevertheless, the young Mexican (who has time on his side, to be fair) has signed a long-term contract keeping him at the club until 2015. Good work if you can get it.
Theo Walcott also got a game that match and for the most part, fluffed his lines a bit. That’s to be expected when you’ve been out for so long but he’s not getting off too easy with the fans neither. The young striker has pledged to make an impact in the upcoming Liverpool game at Anfield on Sunday.
Finally, the aformentioned health issues have required some cheering up for me on this side. So I found this little baby on the ‘tube, and thought immediately of our beloved Alisher Usmanov. The Uzbek tycoon has hoovered up a few shares, but some recent footage has been released of him ‘hoovering up the breadcrumbs’ in the more culinary sense:
Isn’t the resemblance striking?
A Liverpool preview coming shortly your way, in what should be a cracking game. In the meantime, don’t forget to chew with your mouth closed.

Cheeky!
Show more respect to our Soviet overlord.
Any knock on your door could well be the Komitet gosudarstvennoy bezopasnosti!
Be paranoid. Be verrrrry paranoid.
Do take care of yourself, James. Nothing comes before your health and The Arsenal will always be here.

I’m certainly a bit perplexed on Vela, as seems to be the consensus among most Arsenal supporters. True, the flashes of brilliance have been there. But it’s frustratingly inconsistent. That could still be his youth, he’s only 20 after all, and does have time to grow into a potent striker. But he does seem to come up invisible when he gets a first team opportunity. Carling Cup goals are great fun, but they don’t help us in the League or in CL, which are the most important things. On this one I think we’re just going to have to trust AW and what he sees in training or perhaps trust that he’s locked Carlos up for a few years with an eye towards recouping the investment at a later date either through an outright transfer or as make-weight in a swap deal. I do hope he gets things sorted though, as I’d be thrilled if another academy player came good for the first team.
Usmanov. haha haha hahahahahahahahaahahha
