Blogger Bio
Greetings!

My name is James Maasdorp, a South African-Australian blogger and journalist based in Brisbane, Australia , though on the web I’m better known as Jammathon.
I currently work as a journalist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
I was born in Durban, South Africa before migrating to Queensland in Australia with my family in 2003.
I have had a passion for writing, stage work, the South African cricket and rugby union sides and journalism for as long as I can remember.
However, none of these comes close to the love I have for Arsenal FC.
My first memory of the Gunners was in 1993 when the Gunners, led up-front by the iconic Ian Wright, secured a unique cup-double, winning both the FA Cup and League Cup in the season.
At the time, my main interest in football was with Bafana Bafana (South Africa’s national side) given all the hubbub of the rainbow nation and coming back from international sporting isolation, post-apartheid.
But Dennis Bergkamp changed everything and by 1996, at the tender age of 9 years, I was a fully fledged Gooner.
Having never been to London, I have yet to witness my team in person. However, when I make my pilgrimage to the promised land of Highbury Ashburton Grove, you’ll be sure to know all about it.
My hope is to provide a comprehensive news service for all Gooners world-wide, but with a special mention to all the ‘plastic foreigners’ out there, who don’t get the credit they deserve for their equal passion for London’s greatest club.
I’m a keen patron of the Pig and Whistle in Brisbane, the home of Brisbane’s branch of the Australian Arsenal Supporters club. If they’re showing Arsenal, you can almost bet I’ll be there.
Many thanks to all the readers and their feedback who make this all very worthwhile. Your comments and ideas are appreciated and always welcome.
Salutations
James Maasdorp (aka, Jammathon)
